![]() There were carriage rides to Hyde Park (the Park) in an open carriage with the vast majority of the ton present and an expectation that the lady and gentleman would stop and converse with everyone they knew. Nor were a couple left alone to converse for long. Polite conversation between a young unmarried lady and a gentleman did not typically touch on personal subjects, politics, or topics with any depth to them. Needless to say, the restrictions Polite Society places on young unmarried ladies makes it difficult to actually discover if a gentleman meets all the requirements. Their latest addition to the plan is a list of attributes a gentleman must possess to marry any of them. Lady Eleanor Carpenter, her twin and her sister-in-law have planned their come outs for years.
